Tried out rodizio here and overall one of the better rodizio I've had. That said I'm not sure I'd go back for rodizio. I'd be interested in trying food off their menu. I will also say I'm not a huge meat eater so I'm a bit bias.
The great parts were that the service was quick and very efficient. The servers seemed to work as a team to make sure our water and drinks were always filled and obviously they came around with cuts of meat. We were also told there would be a 45 minute wait when we showed up, but got in within 10 minutes.
The less ideal. The price seemed a bit high especially given the quality of the meat brought around. All the cuts of meat tasted fine nothing was miserable to eat. The chicken heart was particularly good. I wasn't overly impressed with anything. Other folks at the table loved the Philly cheese steak cut (meat injected with cheese). I wasn't too impressed with it.
Similar to another review, the grilled pineapple left a lot to be desired. I have had much better grilled pineapple. It made me wish I had ordered a dessert. It was almost like they had put the pineapple in the microwave. It was hardly warm and certainly didn't seemed grilled. -

Of note: Review only based on rodizio experience.
The restaurant is elegant: brick walls and wooden ceiling paneling give it an intimate feel. The service was good; they tended to us promptly and asked what else we needed/wanted several times.
The rodizio was simply okay:
-To start it was quite expensive at $38.98 pp.
-The food bar options were lacking compared to other rodizios I have gone to and mainly consisted of salad-y sides (ex: potato salad, pasta salad, cold chickpeas, pickled veggies, small slices of corn on the cob). They did serve rice, black beans and french fries for the table which I have not had from a rodizio but we did not care for these much and would have preferred a larger array of bar items that each person can take what they prefer from.
-The meat options were also less expansive than other rodizios, those of this same price point and even one that is cheaper in the same Newark neighborhood.
-the grilled pineapple was simply okay. Not warmed all the way through. Was not anywhere near the amazing grilled pineapple I have had at another rodizio.
Overall this place is okay and overpriced. If you have never been to a rodizio then this is good. If you have been to several rodizios, you will likely be disappointed -

Food is great, and generous portions!
The servers were very attentive.
It's a great place for large parties. -

Amazing! My wife loves this place from before her and I met. She recommended it for a date night and what a gem it was! We ordered the rodizio which is a never ending selection of different meats craved table side. It was all extremely delicious and completely satisfying. It was served with a few sides for the table but the meats is what you're there for and they did not disappoint at all! The service was extremely helpful and attentive to every detail. A pitcher a sangria complimented the meal perfectly.
The spot is very cozy and great for families but also intimate enough to have a date. I loved it all. I can't wait to return! Thanks -

Celebrated my brother Tony's 67th birthday at one of my favorite Spanish/Portuguese/Brazilian restaurants, Fernandes Steak House on Fleming Avenue in Newark. I say one of my favorites because the food and service is always excellent and I've never had a bad time or a bad meal there. It was a Saturday evening so the place was mobbed, as expected. The only complaint I would have was that this is a valet only parking lot and there was a line, and a wait, before I could get into the restaurant. A minor complaint, but a complaint. Once inside we were quickly taken to our reserved table which was set up beautifully. Our waiter could not have been more friendly or efficient and had a great sense of humor. Despite the crowd I never felt like we were rushed or that the servers were too busy to take care of us. A big plus! I've been here many times before but I should mention that the brick walls, wood ceilings nice decor and cozy ambiance all add to an enjoyable dining experience. We started with some appetizers including Burrata, Camarao Ao Alho (Shrimp in Garlic Sauce), Chourico Assado (BBQ Portuguese Sausage), along with some well loaded Sangria. I should mention there is also a nice salad bar that comes along with your meal at no additional cost. I passed on that as I didn't want to fill up before my meal. I ordered the"Filetes a Portuguesa" (boiled filet of sole stuffed with crab meat). Delicious! 3 large pieces of filet of sole with vegies, rice and Spanish Potatoes. Nice size portions here, you won't leave hungry. Others at our table had the "Triologia Do Mar Fra Diablo", "Paella de Mariscos"
(Seafood Paella), "Rodizio" (Churrascaria-Portuguese BBQ), and "Porterhouse Steak" cooked on a Tile at the table. No argument that the food and the desserts were outstanding. Fernandes is a very popular and great restaurant and, as they say, you get what you pay for, it's not a cheap night out. If you don't mind paying a little more for a great meal and nice ambiance this is a place you should try, if you haven't already. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention they have a nice bar located on the first floor of the restaurant if you should get there early or would just like to sit and eat at the bar. I know I will be back.
